The members of the Antigonish Garden club are made up of both town and county people. It was decided at a past meeting that we undertake projects at both Heritage museum sites , one in the town of Antigonish and the other 25km away in Cape George. Since the latter was a new project and becoming aware of the contest, we decided to enter.
(b) A local member of our community and Garden club Margaret Brown offered to do the sketch, and being an artist, produced a result that we just might frame and put up in the museum.
(c )We chose the most appropriate of all the photos we took from beginning to finish, that being the 24 in the photo sleeves, with dates and details of our work.
(d) The materials used were the topsoil, peat moss, various planting tools, cardboard, the plants themselves and mulch.
(e) The topsoil, peat moss, and some plants were covered by a 200.00 donation from the Garden club itself. Other plants (of heritage background) were donated by garden club members Betty Webber and Sheila Redden and community members. Albie Falkenham and son, David donated cardboard and using a backhoe saved us time by quickly moving the soil into place. David also cut the grass as a preparation and helped spread the soil. Mulch was donated, delivered and spread by members of the Kell family (young sons included), who are also members of the local community.
(f) We are called the Antigonish Garden club and 20 of our list of 50 or so interested people are registered members of NSAGC. Of those 20, several from the county undertook the project and we also solicited help from local community members.
